A-Zen of TRAVEL & The Landmark Trust - GORGEOUS ESCAPES with Sarah Tucker
SOME HOLIDAYS LEAD TO DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY WHILE OTHERS GET RID OF EMOTIONAL BAGGAGE – WHICH ONES SHOULD YOU AVOID?
An innovative travel book published this summer claims while some holidays will help deal with the stress of every day life, other journeys will add to it. Written by Sarah Tucker, travel editor and broadcaster, who’s written three books on traveling with children (babies, toddler and teenagers), THE A TO ZEN OF TRAVEL looks at the types of journeys that rid us of emotional baggage and those which add to it.
“I met Edward de Bono last year,” says Sarah Tucker, “and he really liked the premise of the book and what it said. Plus I used a lot of his lateral thinking techniques as well as my years of travel experience to come to my conclusions. I’ve been writing very prescriptive books about where to travel, and what to do when you get there and this is a totally different way of thinking and feeling about holidays and journeys. So much is spent on therapy every year – why not use your holiday as a therapy? I’m studying psychology at the moment and am combing both to identify journeys that help with how you think and feel rather than simply what you see and do.”
While adventure, wildlife, and holidays involving activity such as mountain climbing and kayaking do well, all inclusive, cruises and family holidays seem to add to the stress and emotional baggage.
