Drivers of London's iconic black cabs are promising to bring chaos to the streets of the British capital early next month.

They're threatening to gridlock the city because they are angry about a smartphone app called Uber. It promises to connect riders with drivers of private cabs.

Uber is just one example of a new wave of start-up firms using technology to unite buyers and sellers.

Another is AirBnB, a website which lets you rent accommodation direct from owners.

These upstart challengers though are ruffling establishment feathers.
