Mexico recently passed a tax on sugar-sweetened drinks. In the US, San Francisco is gearing up for something similar. That's after Michael Bloomberg - New York's former mayor - tried and failed to pass a similar tax in his city. Instead, New York's health departments are putting out advertisements like this one: called "pouring on the pounds" So what are the arguments for and against taxing fatty foods and drinks? We brought together Dr Kelly Brownell, Dean of Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University in New York and in Brussels, Sam Rowe of UNESDA which represents the European Soft Drinks Industry. I started off by asking Kelly Brownell what arguments there were FOR a fat tax.
