In India the government is now saying more than half a million children have been taken from their homes - often without the consent or knowledge of their families - and sent to work in cities far from their homes. You can probably imagine the conditions they have to work in and to make their plight worse, most of their meagre, but hard-earned pay, disappears into the pockets of criminal middlemen. The BBC's Shilpa Kannan reports on the issue from Delhi. This report aired on World Business Report on the BBC World Service.
