The mystery of the pygmy Rwandan water lily - or Nymphaea Thermarum. The world's smallest water lily - one which actually grows in mud not water - and one of the rarest flowering plants on the planet. Purloined. Stolen from London's Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. The scene of the crime - the Princess of Wales Conservatory - where it would appear nefarious person or persons unknown dug up the aforesaid lily and made off with it.

Well we tried to hire Sherlock Holmes for the case of the missing lily. But he was busy. So we talked instead to Anastasia Timoshyna - head of the medicinal and aromatic plant programme at Traffic, a group which endeavours to thwart the illegal trade in rare species....
