Was this a historic press conference? France's embattled president Francois Hollande spoke to the press at the Elysees Palace in Paris on Tuesday afternoon. The subject - the French economy. But more on that in a moment. Because even many economists in the audience - eager as they were to hear about proposed cuts in payroll charges - also wanted to hear what the President would say about his alleged affair in a Mafia flat with the actress Julie Gayet, and whether or not the woman who lives at the Elysees with him, Valerie Trierweiler, is still France's first lady. We speak to Claudine Serre, who's the executive director of the European American Chamber of Commerce and noted British economist Roger Bootle about what the French president had to say.
