Digital stations come and go at a faster rate than their analogue counterparts. A little like shops on a high street. Even more so now as the UK's fairly limited DAB capacity is re-jigged with the objective of availability for all, rather than a luxury of choice for some. Each distinctive one though attracts its own loyal audience which understandably misses it when it waves farewell.
Smooth 70s was launched as a brand extension of Smooth Radio on 27 December 2011 on DAB and online. It played its last songs just before midnight on Saturday October 5th 2013, chosen fondly by its staff. Its last Rajar audience figures reported a UK audience of 730,000 adults.
