Blackburn on Edmonds schedule change
Breakfast is the crown. Whether or not people are best-suited to the gig; or capable of it, it remains a goal for so many radio presenters.
Tony Blackburn was the rightful first appointment to the Radio1 breakfast show in 1967, and he held it for a respectable 6 years; a term exceeded only by Moyles. So, it was probably to be expected that he would be less than keen on anyone who succeeded him. That someone, in June 1973, was a young Noel Edmonds.
Here, Tony speaks,, in a typically honest way , about how he felt about young upstart Edmonds back then. Time moves on, and commonsense kicks in, but anyone who's been replaced on breakfast will recognise the symptoms with a smile.
