The account by Helen Wilson is an incredible one of the time she went AWOL in April 1945 to go to France to find the grave of her brother who had been killed in action. Fighting was still going on and it was a dangerous time. Helen’s account provides an insight into the time and it is an extraordinary story of love and courage to find the final resting place of her brother. Helen gave this to Blind Veterans UK shortly before her death on 19 March this year. Helen, who was from Inverness in Scotland, became a member of Blind Veterans UK in 2008. During WWII she served in the ATS in the UK and Belgium. It is read by Lucy Barter.
