Insects Clean Antennae to Sharpen Sense of Smell -- Morgan Brandmeyer

Similar to how we use tissues to blow our nose, insects clean their antennae. It appears that insects clean their antennae, even when it doesn't seem necessary, to sharpen their sense of smell. Scientists have run many tests on the American Cockroach to study the cleaning procedure. Researchers then experimented on other insects and the same result occurred. I find it fascinating that insects are always cleaning their antennae, and I hope you find this interesting too!
