Human rights campaigners are calling for a pre-emptive ban on the development of high-tech weapons capable of carrying out attacks without any human intervention. A report by Human Rights Watch and researchers at Harvard Law School says fully autonomous weapons – which it terms “killer robots” - would be in breach of international law and would increase the risk of civilian deaths.
